Feeling a Sense of Belonging… These are the Times

This issue is extremely close to my heart...

Our precious children come to school with such hope and innocence…And in these most challenging of times, they must feel loved and accepted…

Reflecting on my own personal history, I understood how important this was…

Growing up myself during challenging of times post World War II…

I had a difficult time being accepted… Being Jewish, parents divorced…. my sister mentally challenged…

All I wanted was to be invisible…

My heart can so understand how important it is for our precious children to be accepted…

As for myself, I was blessed by junior high, where I felt acceptance with a close group of friends… especially with a dear close friend…Whose family even took me in when my mother died when I was a senior in highschool…

My Hope for this New Year… This be the year we accept those who may be unique and special…A year of Inclusion

  1. Hi Janis,
Thank you for your message(s). In many ways, we are all unique and special, but rightly, we must instil this belief in our children too.
My own childhood, like yours, was far from settled. But thanks to my Mother, I grew up with an appreciation for the value of life, albeit within a feminine point of view. Which I value, in itself, immensely.
    Love, joy and peace,
    Andrew.
