Starting my teaching career back in nineteen, seventy- three….And now, being retired six years from my thirty-eight year public school teaching career….
My heart is breaking due to the lack of regard for our children who attend our public schools…
Moreover… because of the lack of funding, cutting of programs and resources…
And there being a critical teacher shortage!
When I began teaching in the seventies, because of priorities there was an abundance of teachers so much so that in order for me to teach, I would have to travel ninety miles a day just to have the opportunity!!!
It was a time of progress…and I was able to live my passion…
Sadly, When I retired back in 2015, I had wanted so much more for our children because our children were not being prioritized…
Privatization and “No child Left Behind”… were slowly dismantling public schools…
And now funding is even worse…
We have an unqualified, ineffective president who has made extremely reckless decisions about school openings during a pandemic, where our children, teachers, and the essential staff are all being used as pawns to bolster the economy!
We must do something!!!
As the late great John Lewis said…”We can make good trouble”
Voting has begun!!!
This election of 2020 is one of the most critical elections we will ever have…
With this Coronavirus Pandemic, over two hundred thousands have lost their lives, and it will continue to rise!…
Over six hundred thousand children have tested positive… about one hundred of those, have lost their lives…
And with schools open..fewer restrictions, and impending flu season, these numbers will go up!
We presently have a president who lacks the critical leadership, and ethical qualities for whom does absolutely nothing such a position requires…to stop this crisis!!!
But…There is Hope!!!
We must vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.. both being strong leaders that have heart…. appreciating values that are willing to rely on science…
They do have those necessary qualifications to do what it will take to bring our Country back to being safe and respected…
Our children’s lives and future depend on your vote…
