In all thirty-eight years that I have taught in Florida… I am absolutely ashamed of the reckless decision of schools opening this August…
Since having deep ties to my school district in Alachua County, now five years retired…
I can not willingly accept Florida’s decision to open schools…so therefore I feel compelled to speak out!
I am so concerned with the extreme numbers of cases and deaths associated with covid-19 here in Florida…and throughout our Country…
I so believe now more than ever, we do not have leadership at the top, nor do we have any leadership from Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis… because of his inability to stand for what is right…
Our lives, and lives of our children and families are in jeopardy due to the reckless decisions made daily…
I believe from my own personal knowledge what goes into teaching…and now in order to do it safely and affectively… especially in a pandemic!
We need more funding and to wait!!
We must wait until the numbers go way down…And schools are given the required funding to be able to implement the necessary protocols in keeping our schools clean and safe…Our children deserve that!!!
We must not let our children be pawns because of political greed!!!
I pray that we will not open our schools for the sake of our children… teachers…and essential staff…
