When I first began teaching so many years ago; each day was such a joy… I and so many of my fellow colleagues shared such feelings of support and collaboration.. Most of us felt that we were in teaching because of a passion to teach and inspire children…It was during a time to be creative and unique…Each of us blended into a faculty that was truly caring for the needs of others…
Today’s teacher is so overwhelmed…We feel such a frustration…We may want to support and collaborate, however when we are graded and compared, it does influence a closed attitude; we know that we will be judged and graded… Some of our colleagues feel threatened and thus even lead to the need for competition…
These unattainable rigors and demands of today’s teacher has sadly affected the climate within the heart of a school…

Love the cartoon Janis. It would be funny, if it wasn’t so close to real life. As I see it from your perspective, that is.
I think it’s not just teachers who are fed up though. I’ve been thinking, the last few days, what would life be like if money was taken out of the equation; if everything was ‘free’. Of course the idea is ridiculous, but is it? Teachers would still work, but without the worry of funding. A free car, house? No, new ones would be in common ownership. Governments not paid salaries, so they’d do the job out of passion.
Any road up, I know it’s an idea that’ll never catch on. What would bankers do!

Dearest Andrew… Always look forward to your comment..Yes, I too feel our Public Education got sabotaged by greed and private interests….These changes took place in 80’s & has continued to our present…It is truly out of control…Our children and their future, I feel are losing out on so much…Always,Janis
